Licence Condition
Griffith City Council must engage a suitably qualified independent expert to undertake a hydrogeological investigation using historical data from the current groundwater monitoring network and any additional groundwater bores that may be required. The aims of this hydrogeological investigation include: a) To determine whether leachate from the existing landfill operation is migrating through the landfill cell into groundwater; b) To identify the potential impacts on groundwater users or dependant ecosystems (surface or groundwater) where contamination is identified; c) To prepare a report that provides recommendations for the rehabilitation and/or future management of any contamination identified; d) To determine whether the existing groundwater monitoring network is adequate in assessing the potential impacts the landfill operation has on groundwater and to determine the most appropriate position for the replacement of bore hole 2.
